2023 Joan Duffy Travel Award: Tommy Johnson
The 2023 Joan Duffy Travel Award was presented to Tommy Johnson, DNR Intern/University of Florida.
The Joan Duffy supports travel to the Midwest Fish and Wildlife Conference. The Iowa Chapter hasn’t done one in a while, but we chose to match the award given by NCD, for a total of $400 travel support. Our winner just got back from the 2023 meeting, and it’s Tommy Johnson! As most of you know, Tommy is our DNR Graduate Intern out of Chariton, working as a tech on our team and doing a Master’s project through University of Florida. Tommy presented twice during the conference, partly because he had so much to say and partly because his boss is a bully. He also used the opportunity to attend a GIS workshop. Tommy hopes to enter the private side of fisheries when he finishes, and is looking forward to graduating this December. Congratulations, Tommy!
